Blessing Animals, Painting Faces and Playing Games—The first OctoberFest at St. Philip's was lots of fun for people and animals. See the photos.
   
   
         
       
         
Confirming New Members—The Rt. Rev'd James Stanton was at St. Philip's for a service of Diocesan Confirmations and Holy Eucharist Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Phillip's. See photos.
       
         
       
         
Palm Sunday Service--The service began with the blessing of the palms and reading of a lesson and the procession to the church for the Palm Sunday service, with reading of the passion gospel and communion. See pictures from the service.
       
         
       
         
Children's Sermon--Vicar Barbara Kelton cut out hearts and told the children of St. Philip's that Jesus loves them. The chlldren took the hearts and gave them to members of the congregation, telling them that "Jesus loves you." See pictures of the sermon.
       
         
       
         
Hiding the Alleluias for Lent--The new Children's Church School class made the letters A-L-L-E-L-U-i-A to hide in the nave for Lent. The children will bring the Alleluias out again at Easter. See the picture.
       
         
       
         
Shrove Tuesday--The St. Philip's crew fed lots of people in the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper fund-raiser on Feb. 20. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to help.
       
         
       
         

Recycled Costume--Barbara P found the angel costume her daughter Robin had worn in the Epiphany pageant in 1977 and brought it for the pageant in 2007. See what they looked like.

Rural Church Ministry Meeting--More than 80 people from Episcopal churches across East Texas attended the day-long Rural Church Ministry Workshop at St. Philip's on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Annual Meeting--St. Philip's elected two new members -- Larissa Blount and Nancy Moore -- to the Bishop's Committee at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, Jan. 28. Melissa Scudder was elected delegate to the Diocesan Convention and Sarah Smith will be alternate.

Bob Julian, the new bishop's warden, gave the treasurer and bishop's warden's reports. Linda Christian invited the gathering to sign up to help with the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.
