The Rev. Barbara Kelton was recently appointed by Bishop James
Stanton to vicar of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Sulphur Springs
and St. Francis Episcopal Church in Winnsboro.

She replaces the Rev. A. Patterson Young, who served the parish for
10 years prior to his retirement.

The Rev. Kelton served 9 1/2 years as the Episcopal chaplain of
Southern Methodist University. For the past year she served the
Diocese of Dallas in various roles.

Her education includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Baylor
University, and a theological degree from the University of Dallas
School of Anglican Studies.

Prior to her 1986 ordination by the Diocese of Dallas, the Rev.
Kelton was a teacher and counselor. She and her husband, Ed, a
graphic designer, have been married for 37 years and have two
children and three grandchildren. The Keltons said they “love
Sulphur Springs," and the Rev. Kelton was recently accepted as a new
member of the Northeast Texas Choral Society.

Everyone is invited to share in worship services at 10:45 a.m.
Sundays and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, as well as join in on other
parish programs.
